Nursing Department Core Competencies:

       The core competencies of the department are based on the cultivation of the characteristics of the Yadong people of the school, and the core competencies of the school are applied in technology and innovation, interdisciplinary teamwork, thinking and problem-solving, multicultural and international vision, and group core competencies; Analysis Ability, Ethical Conservation, Professional Knowledge, Communication Ability;And according to TNAC proposed that university nursing departments should have: basic biomedical science, general clinical nursing skills, critical thinking ability, communication and cooperation ability, caring, ethical literacy, due diligence, lifelong learning and other core competencies in nursing, And in accordance with the innovation of the school motto, the nine core competencies of the department are defined. It is expected to enable students to combine theory and practice, integrate classroom teaching and industrial development, and achieve "skillful craftsmanship (Think with hands: rooted in professionalism and technology), knowledge innovation (Think with head: rooted in innovation and sensibility), and humanistic self-cultivation ( Think with heart: rooted in ethics and attitude)” and other Yadong characteristics.

 

 

Operational Definition of Nine Core Competencies

  • Basic Biomedical Sciences:

Basic biomedical science ability refers to understanding the correlation between physiological operation and disease mechanism through basic biomedical science (including anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, pharmacology and microbial immunology), and dabbling in new literature (including Chinese and English), applied in nursing practice.

 

  • General Clinical Nursing Skills:

General Nursing Skills Competency refers to the ability to demonstrate problem-solving skills through the development of nursing professional knowledge, professional skills, and professional caring attitudes. Safely assists clients with health issues, including health promotion, assisted medical and related care, to meet their needs.

 

  • Critical Thinking Skills:

Critical thinking ability refers to the ability of effective decision-making and problem-solving. Its intellectual skills include interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, self-correction, etc.; affective traits include truth-seeking, impartiality, investigation, self-confidence and maturity.

 

  • Caring:

Caring ability refers to the sincere emotional expression that patiently listens, accompanies, cares, and empathizes; can carry out interpersonal interactions with an attitude of trust and respect, and deeply understand the needs of service objects, and provide customer-centered humanization with holistic care.

 

  • Communication and Cooperation:

Communication and Cooperation skills refer to the ability to use effective communication skills to establish a nursing-patient relationship; understand and respect the roles played by various professionals in the medical team, be able to appropriately express opinions and exchange messages (including Chinese and English) between teams, use communication and coordination skills, Build a team consensus to achieve the health care goals of the client.

 

  • Ethical Literacy:

Ethical literacy refers to nursing behavior based on professional knowledge, basic norms and ethical principles; this nursing behavior includes performing care that benefits the body, mind, spirit, and society of the client, and the ability to detect whether there are ethical issues. This behavior process has the ability of self-reflection and thinking.

 

  • Due Diligence:

Due diligence means to recognize the value of the nursing profession and try to play the role of a professional (nursing student) well. If there is a need (including workplace pressure resistance), you should seek assistance to complete your duties and take responsibility.

 

  • Lifelong earning:

The ability of lifelong learning refers to the ability to reflect on and confirm one’s professional learning needs (including workplace stress resistance), actively seek learning resources and channels, and apply what they have learned in nursing care.

 

  • Creativity:

As you learn to reflect, you can come up with new ideas about events or clinical care through critical thinking.
